Grilled Cheese Sandwiches with Fries and Chocolate Chip Cookies

So, what do you do when you crave chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven and it’s too hot to cook indoors? You put the cookie dough in your cast iron skillet and put it on the barbecue with the rest of your food, of course.

  There was enough cookie dough to make one big cookie to share, and one little cookie just perfect for the two of us. The “rest of the food” pictured here includes two grilled cheese sandwiches (see below) and a basket of French fries.

  

What could be more natural for a grilled cheese sandwich than to cook it on an outdoor grill? This was a question we pondered for about two seconds before deciding we needed to try it out. After all, we had a loaf of extra sour rye bread to use up and a hot day to keep us out of the kitchen.

By the way, it turned out delicious. The Giant cookie was cut into small bites like cookie bars and devoured before any photos could be taken.
